Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Scheduler to support physicians by scheduling follow-up appointments and tests for patients across ages. The role involves direct patient interaction within a regional academic health system.

Responsibilities include obtaining pre-certifications, scheduling tests and procedures, and communicating clear instructions. Proficiency with Allscripts/Centricity and paging systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/Equivalent (required).
• Two (2) years of scheduling in a multi-specialty clinic (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Schedule follow up/return visits to our office for patients.
• Obtain appropriate pre-certification and pre-authorizations, as needed.
• Schedule medical tests and procedures for patients.
• Discuss patient instructions for procedures with patient so patient has clear understanding of what is expected.
• Calls patients to schedule procedures and give instructions over phone with follow-up letter with instructions.
• Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, online paging systems. Retrieve information from other hospital systems.
• Holds in confidence all matters concerning patients according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Exhibits friendly and helpful behavior.
• Other duties as assigned.
