Job summary

TEKsystems in Silver Spring, MD seeks a detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to support patient scheduling, registration, and front office operations in a busy medical office.

This contract role runs for 12 weeks with potential for permanency; schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, onsite. Responsibilities include scheduling, registrations, referrals, authorizations, payments, and coordinating tests and follow-ups.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years experience in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, referrals, insurance verification, or EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedule new, referral, and follow-up patient appointments.
• Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
• Register patients and update demographic and insurance information.
• Obtain referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications as needed.
• Collect co-pays and other patient payments.
• Coordinate testing, procedures, surgeries, and follow-up appointments when applicable.
• Maintain scheduling templates and provider calendars.
• Support front office operations and ensure patient confidentiality.
