Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years experience in a medical office environment.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and coordinates referral appointments (includes office, outpatient procedures, hospitals, and other medical facilities) by processing all authorizations requiring prior approval from the managed care company.
• Calls patients with the appointment.
• Provides requested information, or refers appropriately regarding patient appointments and testing. Enter authorization into NextGen.
• Keeps logs as required by manager.
• Attends department meetings and other meetings as required by the Manager.
• Answers calls referred to their respective number and assist clinical staff with any managed care question.
• Maintains inventory of office supplies and orders as needed.
• Assists Manager with other duties deemed necessary to achieve efficiency and a cohesive working environment.
• Maintains effective communication and interacts appropriately and professionally with all members of health care team. Returns emails in a prompt manner.
• Communicates with insurance companies and with specialist’s offices.
• Arranges seminars and educational meetings with WH clinical staff and physicians.
• Works on special projects as required.
• Verify demographic/insurance information currently in the system.
• Update HIPAA information.
• Directs patients to Business Office or other designated personnel when appropriate for up front collection of delinquent accounts and/or establishment of a payment plan.
