Qualifications

• Two years' experience in medical records or other office environment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy laws applicable to medical records.
• Ability to learn and apply a variety of laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately scanning, titling, and attaching documents to clients' electronic health records
• Preparing records for destruction based on records retention policy guidelines
• Assisting staff with accessing client information in EHRs
• Educating and correspondence with clients, lawyers, insurance companies, and other outside entities regarding HIPAA and 42 CFR part 2 release procedures
• Providing quality assurance reports to clinical staff/managers of documentation deficiencies
• Maintaining working knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy laws
• Filing requests for records from clients and 3rd party entities
