$18.00/hr - $22.50/hr
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform all responsibilities of the reception area, including checking in and checking out patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments at the time of service.
Essential Functions
- Answer telephones, schedule appointments, and redirect calls as needed.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, adhering to insurance rules and physician preferences, including physical therapy sessions.
- Confirm upcoming appointments and contact patients when necessary.
- Prepare clinic schedules and identify potential issues prior to visits.
- Greet patients, check-in, and assist with intake forms.
- Update patient demographics and insurance information as needed.
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and remaining deductibles or copays.
- Collect payments based on patient benefits and record them accurately.
- Scan and verify insurance cards and IDs.
- Send no-show letters daily.
- Review and edit superbills to ensure proper payment collection at check-out.
- Balance payments received and prepare daily deposits.
- Manage scheduling tasks, messages, referrals, and faxes.
- Return voicemails and follow up with patients as needed.
- Explain patient balances and provide EOBs.
- Handle faxing of DWC forms and other medical information.
- Assist with Release of Information requests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Experience
- Experience in a medical office setting
- Computer proficiency
Special Skills
- Fluent in Spanish (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
- Attention to detail
- Multitasking across multiple applications
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands
- Adequate visual acuity to read and interpret written material
Environmental Conditions
- Indoors with minimal noise
- Handling multiple tasks in high-volume, changing conditions
