Illinois CancerCare seeks a full-time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our clinical team at the Peoria clinic. The MOA assists providers with clinical duties related to patient care and works with RNs, APNs, and physicians in exam and treatment room settings.

The role supports clinic flow, patient prep, EMR documentation, and coordination of supplies while adhering to HIPAA and clinic policies. Training and growth opportunities are available within a collaborative healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and maintain clinic flow for scheduled visits.
• Record vital signs, height, and weight in the EMR.
• Review and update patient medication lists at each visit.
• Assist with patient preparation for exams and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment.
• Order and manage clinical supplies and equipment.
• Ensure lab reports are recorded in the patient chart; request external results as needed.
• Support nursing staff in the treatment room and assist with patient needs, including IV removal.
• Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.
• Perform additional clinical and clerical duties as requested.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and the ILCC employee handbook.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, stooping.

• The employee has limited exposure to toxic substances and is expected to be familiar with the dangers and proper handling of such.
