Job summary

Atlantic Health in New Jersey seeks a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee specimen processing, high/moderate complexity testing, and accurate result reporting under CLIA guidelines.

Under supervision of a CLIA General Supervisor, you will ensure quality control, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with teams to support patient care and efficient workflow. You will lead, coach, and train lab staff, manage inventories, and uphold safety standards across the lab.

Qualifications

• Experience with CLIA high/moderate complexity testing.
• Knowledge of HIS/LIS software and electronic medical records.
• Ability to lead and train a laboratory team and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: evaluate specimens and test orders and accept/reject per guidelines.
• Specimen Testing: perform tests following approved SOPs.
• Result Reporting: review final reports for accuracy and correlate results with diagnoses as applicable.
• Verification & Validation: verify and validate assays and instrumentation prior to clinical use.
• Quality Control: follow QC policies, document calibrations, maintain records, and monitor QC plans.
• Proficiency Testing: assist with distribution and submission, participate in investigations.
• Team Member Management: lead and coach lab staff, provide feedback and training, uphold values.
• Inventory Management: monitor supplies and expiration dates.
• Safety: follow department safety procedures.
