Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at St. Charles Hospital. The role involves performing routine tests on blood, tissues and specimens, and delivering accurate results to physicians while ensuring patient safety and data anonymity.

Responsibilities include quality control, specimen evaluation, and maintaining a compliant lab environment. A CLIA-approved degree and MLS certification or eligibility are required, with externship experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from a CLIA-approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a recognized certifying body (preferably ASCP) (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, accurately and efficiently.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or recognizing abnormal results.
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment; conducts equipment checks and adheres to policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
