Job summary

Mercyhealth in Rockford, IL is seeking a full-time Receptionist to greet patients and visitors, answer calls, and route messages. You will assist with Epic EMR registration, scheduling, and basic cashiering, while maintaining privacy and lobby organization.

Preference given to candidates with medical reception experience and a high school diploma. The role may involve flexible hours and potential work at alternate Mercyhealth locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous medical reception or reception experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of keyboard skills and medical terminology preferred.
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Epic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel.
• Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules patient appointments and handles EMR Epic registration check-in processes.
• Loads, verifies and updates patient demographics and insurance information.
• Collects co-payments and posts in Epic; performs cashiering duties.
• Assists patients with MyChart signup/activation and replies to MyChart messages.
• Maintains lobby, handles mail, supplies, and document processing.
• Ensures patient privacy and confidentiality per policies.
