AFM Family & Internal Medicine in Fairfax, VA is seeking a friendly Medical Front Desk Associate to greet patients, manage appointments, verify insurance, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced, HIPAA-compliant environment.

You will coordinate with clinical staff, handle inquiries, and ensure a welcoming, organized front desk that supports a patient-centered care approach in our primary care practice.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in medical front desk or healthcare administrative roles preferred.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software.
• Knowledge of medical insurance verification and co-pay collection procedures.
• HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality understanding.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients professionally and warmly.
• Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using scheduling software.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-pays.
• Enter/update patient demographics and medical records in the EHR.
• Route calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries.
• Coordinate referrals and authorizations between patients and staff.
• Maintain a HIPAA-compliant front desk environment.
