Job summary

Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. seeks an experienced Counsel (Medical Device/Equipment) to advise on commercial contracts, RFP responses, healthcare compliance, and regulatory matters.

You will draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, assess marketing materials for regulatory compliance, and help guide policy creation and training across CMSU and related entities. The role requires JD, state bar admission, and at least three years of attorney practice, preferably in the medical device

Qualifications

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and analytical thinking.
• Excellent written document drafting and oral communication proficiency.
• Adept at handling complex contract negotiations.
• Presentation skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Knowledge of employment law, including termination, benefits, and leaves of absence.
• Knowledge of healthcare laws (FDA regulatory issues, False Claims Act, HIPAA).
• Team player who can interact with CMSU and NXC.
• Must be a member of the State Bar.
• Law Degree.
• Three (3) years practice as an attorney, preferably with a medical device company.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including customer, business development, research, consulting, vendor and supplier agreements.
• Review and advise on materials for responses to RFPs (requests for proposal).
• Review marketing collateral for compliance with Truth in Advertising principles and regulatory requirements.
• Advise on approval of commercial sponsorships and educational grants.
• Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters, primarily with outside counsel.
• Draft and review company policies and procedures concerning healthcare compliance and FDA regulatory issues.
• Provide legal advice to CMSU on healthcare compliance, employment law, and privacy.
• Create and conduct training on various legal and compliance matters.
• Conduct legal research on issues impacting the company and its subsidiaries.
