Qualifications

• High School or GED required
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics
• 1 year coding major surgeries or E/Ms
• Medical Terminology
• Strong data entry skills
• Understanding of computer applications
• Ability to work with health care team
• Certified coder credentials (RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A) preferred

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into designated system.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guideline changes and apply in daily work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
