Mercy Medical Center is recruiting a PRN Medical Office Specialist (Medical Assistant) for the Lung Center to support front and back office duties across multiple locations in Maryland, including Reisterstown and Ellicott City.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of medical office experience if possible, and strong computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Epic). CPR preferred and travel to satellite offices is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Due to patient data, must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Prefer 1 year experience in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Front Office: greet patients, schedule/confirm appointments, collect co-pays, answer calls, process check-in/out.
• Back Office: record vitals, histories, update EHR, provide patient education.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant provides Front/Back office duties to various pulmonary providers in an outpatient setting. Candidate must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to multiple locations. Locations include Reisterstown and Ellicott City.

Front Office Duties:

• Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
• Complete patient check‑in and check‑out processes

Back Office Duties:

• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one year experience, preferrably in a medical office setting.
