Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a PRN Medical Office Specialist (Medical Assistant) for our Lung Center. This outpatient role involves front and back office duties across multiple pulmonary locations, with travel required to Mercy Downtown, Overlea, Lutherville, Reisterstown, Glen Burnie and Ellicott City.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of medical office experience; CPR is preferred. Must have Monday and Tuesday availability and be able to travel.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant provides Front/Back office duties to various pulmonary providers in an outpatient setting. This position is a traveling medical assistant. Candidate must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all location. Locations include Mercy Downtown, Overlea, Lutherville, Reisterstown, Glen Burnie and Ellicott City.

Must have Monday and Tuesday availability.

Front Office Duties

• Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
• Complete patient check-in and check-out processes

Back Office Duties

• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one year experience, preferrably in a medical office setting.

• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
