Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore is seeking a PRN Medical Office Specialist (Medical Assistant) for our Lung Center to support front and back office operations and to travel among Mercy locations including Downtown, Overlea, Lutherville, Reisterstown, Glen Burnie and Ellicott City.

Candidates should have at least one year of medical office experience, ability to travel to satellite offices, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), and CPR is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting.
• CPR-preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage front desk duties.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures.
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays.
• Take patient vitals and assist back-office as needed.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant provides Front/Back office duties to various pulmonary providers in an outpatient setting. This position is a traveling medical assistant. Candidate must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all location. Locations include Mercy Downtown, Overlea, Lutherville, Reisterstown, Glen Burnie and Ellicott City.

Must have Monday and Tuesday availability.

Front Office Duties

• Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
• Complete patient check-in and check-out processes

Back Office Duties

• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one year experience, preferrably in a medical office setting.

Salary Information

Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
