Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Urgent care or emergency room experience is valued
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture, CLIA-waived tests, assist with procedures and EKGs.
• Register patients, verify insurance, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payments, maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, support infection control and HIPAA standards.
