Job summary

American Family Care seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our corporate-operated urgent care centers. In this role, you will greet patients, perform triage, collect vitals, draw blood, and support front desk activities including insurance verification and EMR documentation.

The position requires completion of an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, and at least 1 year of related experience. BLS, and experience with EMR systems, are expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before starting.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals/history; venipuncture; CLIA-waived testing.
• Register patients and verify insurance; determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays; reconcile payment logs.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide clear discharge instructions; de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Support infection control and HIPAA standards; participate in daily huddles and maintain compliance logs.
