Job summary

American Family Care is hiring Medical Assistants for our urgent care centers in MA. You will greet patients, triage, collect vitals, perform CLIA-waived tests, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate insurance eligibility and EMR entries.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture, CLIA-waived point-of-care testing, assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, nebulizer therapy.
• Insurance Verification & Front Desk: Register patients, verify eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile logs, maintain EMR accuracy.
• Patient Service: Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Team & Compliance: Daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, support infection control and HIPAA standards.
