Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in coordinating patient care, preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, and updating the EHR. This role may involve back-office testing, scribing, and occasional travel between AHN locations in alignment with AHN protocols.

Ideal candidates have a Medical Assistant program completion, CPR certification, and required background clearances.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)

Responsibilities

• Using a team-based approach, assists in coordinating patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients; obtains vital signs and documents medical history, tobacco use, and medications; may assist with depression screening and wellness visits.
• Performs back-office testing following AHN protocols and policies.
• Assists providers with examinations and procedures; may serve as a scribe with training.
• Provides follow-up with patients via phone, electronic, or written communication per provider instructions.
• Prepares exam rooms, ensures stock of medical supplies, and maintains clean, sterile instruments.
• Documents accurately in the EHR and performs clerical duties; may rotate between AHN locations.
