Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the clinical team in a fast-paced practice. You will assist with patient care, room patients, document vital signs and histories, and review medications in the EHR, following AHN protocols.

You may perform back-office testing, assist with procedures, and provide follow-up communications. CPR certification and background clearances are required; a preferred associate degree may strengthen candidacy.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Employees who have not met the above certification criteria may have the opportunity to sit for a company proctored certification exam when qualified.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree.
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider using a team-based approach.
• Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs, document patient information and screening data.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR and coordinate orders for screenings or prescriptions as applicable.
• Perform back-office testing and assist with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training and provide follow-up communication per provider instructions.
• Maintain inventory and ensure treatment areas are stocked; sterilize instruments per policy.
