Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) for a correctional facility to provide clinical and administrative support under supervisory staff. The role covers intake screenings, vital signs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and medical record documentation in a structured environment.

Schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm; on-site position with strong emphasis on patient safety, HIPAA, and infection control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• CMA or RMA certification required by state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of one year of active clinical Medical Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain and document patient vital signs, health histories, and intake information.
• Perform laboratory specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
• Safely administer routine medications and treatments as permitted by policy.
• Respond to emergencies and support the healthcare team as needed.
• Maintain infection control and sanitize examination areas according to guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and restock medical supplies and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records in EHR/EMR systems and coordinate care as directed.
