Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our clinical team within a secure correctional facility. This full-time on-site role combines clinical support and administrative tasks under licensed nursing staff.

The position covers intake screenings, vital signs, specimens, point-of-care testing, care coordination, and HIPAA-compliant practices. Shifts are 6am-2:30pm or 8am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current CMA or RMA certification as required by state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of one year of active clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and move quickly throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs and patient health information during intake and chronic care clinics.
• Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing within scope of practice.
• Safely administer routine medications and treatments as allowed by regulations and policies.
• Respond to medical emergencies and assist staff as needed.
• Maintain sanitation and infection control in exam and treatment areas.
• Monitor inventory and restock medical supplies and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records in EHR/EMR and coordinate care as directed.
