Job summary

TEEMA in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) for a full-time contract at a correctional facility. You will support providers during examinations, take vital signs, collect specimens, and assist with chronic care clinics in a secure, organized environment.

You must graduate from an accredited MA program and hold CMA/RMA with current BLS. The role emphasizes infection control, accurate documentation in EHR/EMR, and strict patient confidentiality under HIPAA.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Training: CMA or RMA certification as required by state regulations.
Credentials: CMA or RMA and current BLS certification.
Life Support: BLS certification is current.
Experience Baseline: 1 year of active clinical Medical Assistant experience.
Physical Capability: Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds and move quickly in a facility.

Responsibilities

Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
Take vital signs, document medical histories, and assist with intake screenings and chronic care clinics.
Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing within scope of practice.
Administer routine medications and treatments as allowed by policy.
Respond to medical emergencies and assist staff as needed.
Prepare and sanitize exam and treatment areas per infection control guidelines.
Monitor inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
Maintain accurate health records in EHR/EMR and other systems.
Schedule patient appointments and coordinate healthcare services as directed by nursing leadership.
Adhere to HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions.
