Child Advocacy Center - Medical Assistant Senior

The Child Advocacy Center is seeking a Medical Assistant Senior to join their team. The ideal candidate will have direct patient care experience, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work with a delicate pediatric population, demonstrating empathy and compassion. This role involves travel to the satellite office in Carlisle for coverage purposes.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with no weekends or holidays.

Salary Range: $18.12 - $27.76, based on experience. The position also offers a $1500 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians with patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams.
• Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings following provider guidelines.
• Relay instructions to patients and families.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab, x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
• Complete necessary forms and requisitions.
• Manage and prepare patient charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and update patient demographics.
• Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control by cleaning between visits.
• Manage inventory of supplies.
• Check schedules, organize patient flow, answer calls, and provide patient education as needed.
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform clinic procedures according to policy.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health, and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data.
• Follow all policies and procedures of the UPMC Health System.
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision when appropriate.
• Handle front office responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform duties in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
