Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Virtual Senior Medical Assistant - Insurance Authorizations to join our team. This remote position is based in Webster, Texas. It is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Medical Assistant will:

  • Assist physicians with patient care, including exams and procedures.
  • Manage patient flow and support clinic operations.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling, answering phones, and maintaining records.
  • Support patient education and obtain specimens and injections as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and disinfection protocols.
  • Handle administrative duties including documentation, faxing, and filing.
  • Assist with insurance authorizations and pre-certifications.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical setting as a Medical or Nursing Assistant.
  • Experience with insurance authorizations is required.
  • Phlebotomy skills and current CPR certification are preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Requires handling, lifting (up to 40 lbs), standing, walking, and manual dexterity. Exposure to clinical environments and potential hazards is possible.
