Job description

Join our team as a Medical Assistant-Casual at UPMC in Harrisburg!

UPMC is hiring casual Medical Assistants with various experience levels to support multiple offices. This role involves flexible hours, primarily Monday to Friday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, with no holidays or weekends. Travel may be required up to 50% of the time to support other offices, with details to be discussed during the interview.

The salary ranges from $18.12 to $27.76 per hour, depending on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

**Responsibilities include:**

• Organizing patient flow and checking schedules.
• Assisting patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
• Collecting patient information, vital signs, and conducting screenings.
• Managing medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Preparing exam rooms, managing inventory, and maintaining infection control standards.
• Performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic laboratory procedures.
• Handling administrative tasks such as scheduling, chart management, and patient communication.
• Administering injectable medications and vaccines under supervision, if qualified.

**Minimum qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
- For senior roles: completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent, certification, or at least 1 year of patient care experience.

**Certifications required:**
- CPR (BLS or CPR) within 30 days of hire.
- Act 31, 33, 34, 73 FBI Clearance.
