Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Available to work a rotating schedule Mon-Fri 7:30 am - 8:00 pm, Sat/Sun 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

The role you’ll contribute:

Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of providers, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a variety of patient care activities. Adheres to state, federal, and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety, supported by the Clinical Excellence team. Maintains organization and facilitates patient flow, participating actively in customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all.

• Enhances the patient experience by driving customer service initiatives.
• Documents and reports all procedures and assessments properly and legibly, following department policy.
• Uses age-specific guidelines to assess patients during clinical check-in, documents medical information and vital signs, and checks for signs of abuse or neglect.
• Performs and administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by providers, verifying as needed. Responds appropriately in emergencies and triage situations.
• Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing such as EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, pulse oximetry, and forensic testing in accordance with DOT and Florida guidelines, including urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol tests, oral fluids, and hair testing.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of related work experience, or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship, or six months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
• CPR Certification
• Continued maintenance of BAT certification after hire
• Continued maintenance of Drug Screen Certification after hire
• Current certification by one of the following:
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) for Certified Medical Assistants
• American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
• American Medical Technologists (AMT) for Registered Medical Assistant
• National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) for National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Health Career Association (NHA) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant
• American Allied Health (AAH) for Nationally Certified Medical Assistant
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from National Performance Specialists (NPS)
• National Certification Medical Association (NCMA) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist
• State of Florida Paramedic License
