Schedule: Full Time

Shift: AVAILABLE TO WORK A ROTATING SCHEDULE MON-FRI 7:30a-8p, SAT/SUN 7:30A-5P

The Role You’ll Contribute: Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of the Providers, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities. Adheres to state, federal, and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety with support from the Clinical Excellence team. Is essential in maintaining organization and facilitating patient flow. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

  • Creates and owns the patient experience to drive customer service initiatives.
  • Properly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.
  • Assesses patients during clinical check-in, documents medical information and vital signs, and looks for signs of abuse or neglect, using age-specific guidelines.
  • Performs and administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by the provider, verifying as needed. Responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.
  • Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, pulse oximetry, and forensic testing in accordance with DOT and Florida guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of related work experience OR graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship completion OR 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
  • CPR Certification
  • Continued maintenance of BAT and Drug Screen Certifications after hire
  • Current certification by one of the following:
    • AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, AAH, NPS, NCMA, or Florida Paramedic License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous urgent care / ED experience
