Schedule: Full Time

Shift: A two-week rotating schedule of 10-12 hour weekday shifts and rotating weekends.

The role you’ll contribute:

Under the supervision of Providers and reporting to the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs various patient care activities. Adheres to all guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety, supports clinical organization, facilitates patient flow, and participates in delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining respectful relationships.

• Enhances patient experience through excellent customer service initiatives.
• Documents and reports all procedures and assessments clearly and in accordance with department policy.
• Assesses patients during clinical check-in, records medical information and vital signs, and checks for signs of abuse or neglect, using age-specific guidelines.
• Performs and verifies treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by providers; responds appropriately in emergency and triage situations.
• Conducts diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, pulse oximetry, and forensic testing (urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol, oral fluids, hair testing) in compliance with DOT and Florida guidelines.

Qualifications:

The expertise and experience needed to succeed:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of related work experience OR graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship completion OR 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
• CPR Certification
• Continuous maintenance of BAT certification after hire
• Continuous maintenance of Drug Screen Certification after hire
• Current certification by one of the following:
• American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants
• American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
• American Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant
• National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
• National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Health Career Association (“NHA”) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant
• American Allied Health (“AAH”) for Nationally Certified Medical Assistant
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from National Performance Specialists (NPS)
• National Certification Medical Association (“NCMA”) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist
• State of Florida Paramedic License
