Job summary

Gastroenterology & Hepatology Specialists, Inc. is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for our Canton clinic. The role requires prior MA experience, medical terminology knowledge, and an American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• SHIFT: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for procedures at clinic, ASC, and hospital along with radiology and lab work.
• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document in chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits and emergencies as applicable.
• Manage patient prescriptions and referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions and notify patients of test results.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Schedule patients for procedures at clinic, ASC, and hospital along with radiology and lab work

• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency, if applicable
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results

The Must Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
