Job summary

Dayton Gastroenterology, part of One GI®, is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for our Englewood, OH clinic. You will support physicians with patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, and scheduling.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, MA experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and BLS/CPR certification. We offer paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, education reimbursement, growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Experience in a medical office environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Measure vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and document in chart.
  • Collect specimens for laboratory analysis as applicable.
  • Obtain and record patient health history.
  • Assist physician during office visits and in emergencies.
  • Manage patient prescriptions and referrals as directed by physician.
  • Answer patient questions and communicate test results.
  • Assist with scheduling visits, procedures, labs, x-rays, and hospital admissions as needed.

Snapshot of Daily Duties
  • Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and documents all information in patient’s chart.
  • Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
  • Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
  • Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
  • Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
  • Manage referrals as directed by physician.
  • Answer patient questions. Notify patient test results
  • Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.
The Must Haves
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
  • BLS certified required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
