Job summary

Gastroenterology & Hepatology Specialists, Inc. in Canton, OH is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our clinic at 4360 Fulton Drive. The ideal candidate has scheduling experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and BLS/CPR certification.

You’ll support physicians, schedule procedures, manage patient records and prescriptions, and work 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday. We offer competitive benefits and opportunities for growth at One GI®.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Experience in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for procedures at clinic, ASC, and hospital.
• Reschedule cancelled procedures.
• Measure vital signs and document in patient charts.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history.
• Assist physician during office visits and emergencies.
• Manage patient prescriptions and referrals.
• Answer patient questions and communicate test results.
• Schedule research patients.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Schedule patients for procedures at clinic, ASC, and hospital along with radiology and lab work
• Reschedule cancelled procedures
• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and documents all information in patient’s chart, if applicable
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency, if applicable
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results
• Schedule Research Patients

The Must Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant helpful
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certified required
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
