Job summary

Gastroenterology Health Partners in New Albany, IN is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join our clinic. You will measure vital signs, collect specimens, assist physicians, manage prescriptions and coordinate scheduling, while upholding a patient-centric, inclusive culture.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2 years MA experience, knowledge of medical terminology, BLS/CPR certification, and willingness to travel to satellite locations.

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and document in patient chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record patient health history.
• Assist the physician during office visits and emergencies.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Coordinate referrals and scheduling of visits, tests and procedures.
• Answer patient questions and communicate test results to patients.

Snapshot of Daily Duties:

• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and documents all information in patient’s chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results
• Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.

The Must Haves:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certified required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• Must be able to travel to satellite locations
