Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams across multiple departments. The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, and coordinating tests and referrals.

The MA will perform venipuncture, basic lab tests, medication administration, and vaccinations while maintaining a clean, efficient work area. Strong communication and EMR skills are essential to deliver patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training.
• BLS certification required within specified divisions (45 days in some areas).
• Experience with electronic medical records and basic computer tasks preferred.
• Ability to perform routine and complex MA tasks within the scope of practice after demonstrated competency.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to MA scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, messaging, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross-trained to support specialty or clinic practices.
• Maintains clean, stocked work area and ensures equipment is functioning.
• Delivers age-appropriate care and communicates effectively with patients.
