Job summary

Vail Health in Colorado is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and clinical teams with patient care, maintain records, and perform administrative duties that help manage patient care. You will field patient calls, respond to portal messages, process refill requests, and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR while upholding HIPAA and Just Culture principles.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical equipment, HIPAA compliance, and OSHA rules and regulations required
• 2 years of experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties preferred
• Medical Assistant certifications listed (CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/MAC) or eligible

Responsibilities

• Fields patient phone calls and voicemails promptly and in a professional manner
• Addresses patient portal and EHR messages through the drop box within an acceptable timeframe
• Communicates with provider or team regarding patient questions
• Receives and processes patient refill requests per workflow
• Sends requests to provider when refill cannot be processed
• Manages provider’s patient portal messages in EHR
• Closes loop with patient on requests, questions, results, or concerns
• Ensures accuracy and documentation in the EHR
• Communicates with the clinical care team as needed
• Models Just Culture and organizational values
• HIPAA compliant
