Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care under supervision. The role involves rooming patients, documenting vitals, assisting with exams and cognitive assessments, and handling lab draws with attention to accuracy.

You will also manage calls, scheduling, and EMR entries, helping keep patient flow smooth and compliant with policies. The position requires BLS certification, basic medical knowledge, and the ability to work with providers and clinical staff to maintain

Qualifications

• AHA BLS certification is required.
• Experience as a medical assistant and EMR familiarity.
• Strong front-office and patient-care skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and preparing patients for appointments.
• Obtaining and documenting vital signs.
• Completing accurate patient assessments and clinical documentation.
• Performing cognitive exams as indicated.
• Collecting laboratory specimens and completing lab draws.
• Managing incoming and outgoing patient phone calls.
• Processing and coordinating prior authorizations.
• Supporting providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient care and workflow operations.
