Job summary

IU Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinic operations. You will room patients, take vital signs, perform EKGs, and maintain charts under supervision, while assisting with scheduling and front-desk tasks.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• New hires after Oct 5, 2025 will require graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA is required.
• TB validation may be required within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
• Familiarity with Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work concepts within 6 months.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory procedures and insurance payer processes.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for provider visits.
• Obtain and document vital signs.
• Perform EKGs as ordered.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and documentation.
• Assist with scheduling activities and appointment coordination.
• Support patient check-in/out workflows.
• Stock clinical supplies and monitor inventory levels.
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms between patients.
• Prepare patient room turnover for next visit.
• Assist nurses and providers with patient care and clinical procedures.
• Crosstrain on scheduler responsibilities for team coverage.
• Collaborate with team to support daily clinic operations.
