Job summary

IU Health is seeking compassionate Medical Assistants to support direct patient care under supervision, ensuring accurate procedures and timely referrals. You will assist with registrations, EMR maintenance, and front desk tasks in a busy clinical setting.

Under leadership, you may precept MA team members or externs, and certification in medical assisting is required through CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or CMAC, with BLS prioritized.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current certification in medical assisting required from CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or CMAC.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care and clinical direction to support patient care per organization standards.
• Maintain EMR files and assist with front office functions as needed.
• Perform registration and scheduling activities per departmental procedures.
• Precept MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership.
