Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks essential to patient care. The role requires CMA/RMA certification, current BLS, and at least two years of clinical MA experience in a regulated environment.

You will room patients, collect samples, assist with exams, vaccinations, IV therapy as permitted, and coordinate follow-up care. Strong communication and computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or clinical military training per DD214 in lieu.
• Certified CMA or RMA by a national organization required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and update medical information.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
• Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and IV therapy as permitted.
• Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care, referrals, appointments, and prescription refills.
• Document patient information and communicate with providers and care team.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures as trained and supervised (EKG, phlebotomy, spirometry, wound care, catheterization, sutures).
• Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform equipment maintenance, sterilization, and quality checks.
• Support quality improvement and patient-centered care initiatives.
