Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in our facilities. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, and reviewing medical history, with tasks such as venipuncture and sample handling performed under physician direction.

The position requires at least two years of clinical Medical Assistant experience, a relevant education credential, and proficiency with electronic medical records.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a clinical practice as a Medical Assistant.
• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training in lieu of a program.
• Current BLS certification may be required depending on location.
• Ability to use electronic medical records systems and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, screenings, etc.
• Assists provider with procedures when ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT.
• Administers medications and vaccines following the rights of administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals as needed.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and proper equipment functioning.
• May train or onboard teammates and participate in committees.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork with patients and staff.
