Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient intake, vitals, specimen collection, and assist with examinations in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The role includes preparing exam rooms, interviewing patients, and performing basic lab tests under physician orders.

In addition to practical experience, a Medical Assistant Program diploma or equivalent training is preferred, with pathways for certified MAs and tuition support available.

Qualifications

• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program.
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience.
• Military Medic training.
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training.
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
