Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience required. Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred but not required.
• Certification: CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; MA Certification (AMT or AAMA) preferred but not required.
• Experience: One year of work experience required; previous experience in a medical office preferred. On the job training provided for those without prior MA training.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Complete patient registration
• Provide front office support to the physician practice
• Check in and check out patients
• Verify insurances
• Greet patients and escort to exam room
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for visit
• Perform basic vitals such as BP, height, and weight
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program

CPR certification through the American Heart Association

Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) preferred

One year of work experience in a medical office
