Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting program preferred but not required.
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association is required; Medical Assistant certification (AMT or AAMA) preferred but not required.
• One year of work experience in a medical office or related field is preferred; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones.
• Schedule appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Complete patient registrations.
• Provide front office support to the physician practice.
• Check in and check out patients.
• Verify insurances.
• Greet patients and escort to exam room.
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications, and reason for visit.
• Perform basic vitals such as BP, height, and weight.
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required.

Education
