Job summary

CommuniCare seeks a Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations. The role includes administering injections, assisting with EKGs and screenings, and coordinating referrals with patient communication. Strong computer skills and BLS certification are required.

The candidate will obtain patient histories, vital signs, and ensure quality metrics are documented per regulatory standards. Flexibility to travel to other clinic sites and schedule changes is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day operations of front and back office; coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with non-invasive patient care procedures (EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, waived testing).
• Obtains patient history, vital signs, and ensures quality metrics are documented per regulations.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures equipment is calibrated and available.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, and processes insurance/posting of encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation and secures cash deposits.
• Prepares for next-day clinic with chart prep and pre-registration of patients.
• Provides exceptional customer service and collaborates with other departments.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
