Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Medical Assistant to support multiple urgent care centers. The role involves patient registration, vital sign measurement, and performing point-of-care tests such as flu and strep.

You will document EMR data, handle cash at the front desk, and assist with scheduling and follow-up communications. Candidate must have 1 year MA experience, BLS certification, and be willing to float between centers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to float between centers within the market.
  • MA certification required within 12 months if under 3 years experience.
  • 3+ years MA experience + 1+ year Urgent Care/ED/Hospital may qualify without MA certification.
  • CPOE certification must be obtained within two weeks of start date.
  • Proficient in MA clinical duties and phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and collect demographics and insurance information.
  • Process co-pays and assist with scheduling.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and document medical histories.
  • Record vital signs: BP, pulse, temp, height, weight.
  • Perform point-of-care tests (flu, strep, UA, EKG, pregnancy).
  • Communicate test results to providers.
  • Perform venipuncture and prepare specimens.
  • Maintain and stock exam rooms and medical supplies.
  • Complete EMR documentation accurately and timely.
  • Support front desk operations and patient communication.
  • Conduct patient follow-up calls as directed.
  • Open/close clinic duties, including cash handling.
  • Conduct equipment checks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to clinical, safety, compliance policies.
  • Float across urgent care centers to support operations.

Job description

  • Register patients and collect demographic, insurance, and eligibility information
  • Process co-pays and assist with patient scheduling
  • Prepare patients for examinations and accurately document medical histories
  • Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight
  • Perform point-of-care testing, including flu testing, strep testing, urinalysis, EKGs, and pregnancy testing
  • Communicate test results to providers
  • Perform venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Clean, prepare, and stock examination rooms
  • Monitor and maintain medical supplies and inventory
  • Complete accurate and timely EMR documentation
  • Support front desk operations, patient communication, and phone management
  • Conduct patient follow-up calls as directed
  • Perform opening and closing clinic duties, including cash handling and reconciliation
  • Conduct equipment checks, quality control procedures, and basic troubleshooting
  • Adhere to all clinical, safety, compliance, and operational policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Float across multiple urgent care centers and support clinical and front-office operations
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability and willingness to float between assigned centers within the market
  • Candidates with fewer than three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience must hold an approved Medical Assistant certification or obtain certification within twelve (12) months of hire
  • Candidates with three (3) or more years of Medical Assistant experience and one (1) or more years of Urgent Care, Emergency Department, or Hospital experience may be considered without Medical Assistant certification at hire
  • CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within two (2) weeks of the start date
  • Proficiency in Medical Assistant clinical duties
