Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Medical Assistant in Charlottesville, VA to perform patient care, room patients, and support providers with exams and lab processing. The role includes scheduling support, communication with patients and staff, and maintaining patient records with HIPAA compliance.

The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of clinical experience, CPR/BLS, and preferably Medical Assistant Certification. Phlebotomy skills are a plus in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required prior to start date.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical environment required.
  • 1 year in an administrative, patient-facing, or customer service role required.
  • Phlebotomy and lab processing skills preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills for electronic recordkeeping.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Ability to use required safety equipment/PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care activities in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Room clinic patients in person or virtually and update patient charts.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses.
  • Greet patients, assist with scheduling, manage incoming and outgoing phone calls, and process payments.
  • Oversee efficient turnover of exam rooms.
  • Assist providers in the exam room as requested.
  • Collect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens.
  • Assist the Patient Services team with prior authorizations and documentation.
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages and document them appropriately.
  • Order and manage supplies under the manager's direction.
  • Disinfect and stock exam rooms.
  • Assist in obtaining records for patient charts.
  • Report patient issues throughout the treatment day.
  • Follow company policies and CDC infection-control guidelines.
  • Assist with handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and patient records and adhere to HIPAA.
  • Communicate schedule changes and assist with patient rescheduling.
  • Manage incoming mail and deliveries.
  • Report to the Clinical Operations Manager.
