Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with routine procedures and testing in the exam room. You will advise patients on pre-visit requirements, ensure lab results are integrated into the EMR, and assist with direct clinical support for assigned clinicians.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma or Medical Assistant Certification, with Computer experience and preferred BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate or Medical Assistant Certification.
• Computer experience.
• Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program.
• Current American Heart Association BLS strongly preferred or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
• 1+ years of clinical or customer service experience as determined by the department.
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage; EMR aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Prepare patient for examination; measure vital signs.
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests.
• Ensure EMR is updated with medical information and demographics.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Assist in resolving patients' concerns and complaints.
• Orders and performs point-of-care waived testing (strep, urine, hCG, glucose).
