Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, or at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for examinations including vital signs and ancillary testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Triaging emergent patients as needed.
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered.
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment.
• Notify supervisor if equipment or facility issues occur.
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times.
• Handle front and back office clerical tasks and proper record keeping.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain facility appearance.
• Complete required training including clinical competency modules.
