Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care as directed by clinicians, completing referral and patient navigation tasks as instructed by clinicians and the Registered Nurse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as clinical support to providers by completing patient intakes, preparing exam rooms, collecting and testing samples, and performing procedures under supervision.
  • Execute tasks for blood sample collection, including venipuncture, order transmission, and proper identification and handling.
  • Administer vaccines and tuberculosis skin tests as ordered.
  • Manage documentation and organization of patient charts, verify patient eligibility, and handle faxes.
  • Perform patient navigation duties, including coordinating with Healthcare Network Patients, assisting in resource identification, and making appointments.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and students, providing training and support in clinical duties and electronic medical records.
  • Support clinic operations by cleaning, restocking, and identifying supply needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience working with the Latino community preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, preferably in a Windows-based environment.
