Job Description :

The Medical Assistant at Dignity Health is responsible for providing a basic level of patient care and treatment, assisting with obtaining vital signs, documenting chief complaints, and all actions taken. They alert physicians of problems, assist with obtaining patient history, and perform simple patient procedures, including setting up exam rooms and administering medications (excluding IV) under supervision. They also obtain lab specimens, fill out requisitions, and may coordinate workflow and referrals.

Qualifications :

  • High School diploma / GED.
  • Graduated from an approved Medical Assistant Program or completed a U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities :

  • Maintain hospital standards for specimen labeling and collection.
  • Assist during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Retrieve equipment and supplies, prepare patients and equipment, and perform follow-up actions.
  • Complete hospital forms and document findings accurately.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, weight, and other patient data as instructed.
  • Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
  • Obtain authorizations and referrals as needed.
  • Register patients fully in IDX, verify insurance, and update information.
  • Establish rapport with patients and families to enhance their experience.
  • Report changes in patient condition to appropriate staff.
